What an honour and wonderful afternoon.

We are incredibly proud and grateful to have been nominated for the King's Award for Voluntary Service 2026.

A huge thank you to Mr, Andrew Try, His Majesty's Lord Lieutenant for the Royal County of Berkshire, for hosting such a prestigious gathering at Shaw House.

This event brought together many inspiring organisations from the county who have been nominated for this prestigious award too.

This recognition belongs to every single one of our 70 volunteers, whose dedication, kindness, and continued commitment make Newbury Soup Kitchen what it is, selflessly providing kindness, food, outreach and advocacy to people experiencing homelessness and vulnerably housed in our community.

We all await the final decision on the awards in November.

It was lovely to see so many familiar faces from the charity sector, dignitaries and supporters from the county. To meet some of the board of assessors who supported our nomination was very humbling.

Being nominated for the King’s Award for Voluntary Service is an incredible recognition of the dedication of our volunteers, and something we are immensely proud of.
